Hillary Ignored 237 FOIA Requests and Stonewalled A.P. for Three Years

From: nationalreview.com,  by NRO Staff,  on Aug 23, 2016,  see the article HERE.

Hillarys only accomplishmentIt was a long wait.

Today’s blockbuster report from the Associated Press about Hillary Clinton’s meetings with Clinton Foundation donors during her time as Secretary of State contained the following nugget: “The AP sought Clinton’s calendar and schedules three years ago, but delays led the AP to sue the State Department last year in federal court for those materials and other records.”

Three years ago.

The long wait was in keeping with a practice of slow-walking such requests for information.

In April, the State Department explained the fact that Clinton ignored 237 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests by saying that she was sitting Secretary of State at the time the requests were filed. According to the Washington Free Beacon, Clinton received 240 FOIA requests from 2009 to 2013 but only responded to three of them within the legally required timeframe.

Among the organizations that filed unanswered requests were the AP, Gawker, Judicial Watch, Citizens United, and Vice News. Some of these groups subsequently sued the State Department for failing to respond to their requests for information from Clinton’s records.

The State Department attempted to justify its delays by claiming that the number and complexity of records requests continued to increase until it was impossible to process them. Of course, the effect of the slow processing was to make it impossible for the A.P. to do the report that rocked the political world this afternoon.

~~~~~~~~~~
A definition of the FOIA law is found on the Dept. of Justice website to be: “The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is a law that gives you the right to access information from the federal government. It is often described as the law that keeps citizens in the know about their government.”
Doesn’t that mean that FOIA requests are supposed to allow the citizens to see what’s going on “under the covers” in our government?
And doesn’t it follow that Hillary’s State Department was obviously preventing citizens from knowing about their government? That is, knowing about what Hillary was doing as Secretary of State? She didn’t ignore a dozen, or even a hundred of those pesky FOIA requests, she ignored 237 of them. Why? Because she didn’t want anyone to know what she was doing.
How much more evidence does a voter need to see to conclude that Hillary believes herself to be above the law?
Consider that we’re only now learning went on during her tenure at State and imagine, given the power of the presidency, what she might do if she became POTUS …
  1. Obama and Hillary show us what you get with corrupt government. Just like gun laws only apply to law-abiding citizens, laws meant to prevent government corruption and totalitarianism only apply to the non-corrupt and non-totalitarian. Those who are corrupt simply ignore the law, just like criminals ignore gun laws. The moral to the story: Don’t elect corrupt people.
    • That statement, “don’t elect corrupt people” should be our eleventh commandment. But the country contains too many inert citizens – sometimes called “low information voters.” To them, name recognition and a few sound bites from network media is enough for them to form their opinion so they vote based on that, and after doing their “civic duty,” go back to researching in-depth information on the Kardashians or Prince’s death – you know, things they’re really interested in.
  2. This may be ‘rock the world’ news to National Review and AP, but it’s of little surprise to me after seeing the history of just how little regard she has for the law. She has no qualms about breaking huge laws, so a little thing like FOIA requests is a trivial matter in her eyes.
    She STILL doesn’t want anyone to know what she’s doing or what she’s done in the past. Considering the long list of things we know she did – only because she got caught or had to begrudgingly admit to – what all has she done that we DON’T know about?? Now that’s a list that would be scary as hell.
    • That’s so true! And it’s an important point – we’d be foolish to believe that we know about all of her shenanigans, just imagine how much mischief she and Bill got into that we know nothing about – it wobbles the mind.
