“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
Here, we have the core of what governments are to do—secure the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The emphasis is on securing people’s rights to be left alone—to live, to be free, and to accumulate property and raise a family and whatever else might make life worth living.
God created us equal, in other words, but governments are to ensure we are free.
“Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes. … But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them, under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
I would submit that the Administrative State, the Federal Reserve System and its handmaiden, the IRS, and the ongoing usurpations of the Federal Courts all directly reflect the type of “chains of abuses” without the affirmative consent of the governed that our forefathers rebelled against!
It is long past time to reinstitute Constitutional Government as described in the written Constitution and its legally passed Amendments. Statute law and Court decisions have so tortured our Liberty as to render it moot!
That is the frustration that brought us POTUS Trump! The powers that be need to recognize this, and deal honestly and openly, or the people will rise up and deal with THEM!
