Lib Blogger Says It Should Be Illegal to Defend Yourself

There’s stupid and then there’s that special level of stupid, where guys like Justin Curmi can be found. He is a blogger at the Huffington Post who wrote a piece explaining why we shouldn’t kill perpetrators in self defense. Here are some excerpts from his piece:

“The main problem with the notion of self-defense is it imposes on justice, for everyone has the right for a fair trial. Therefore, using a firearm to defend oneself is not legal because if the attacker is killed, he or she is devoid of his or her rights. In addition, one’s mental capacity is a major factor in deciding whether a man or woman has the right to have a firearm. There are two reasons for ensuring mental capacity. First, one of the Five Aims is to ensure domestic tranquility and there can be no tranquility if one does not have the capacity. Second, if one’s brain is distorting his or her reality, they do not have the proper reasoning and deduction skills to use a firearm.

Therefore, if we ponder and meditate on the recent events in news about guns, it would be obvious that the current state is incorrect. A gun for civilians is a weapon for a revolution and not for ordinary use. The belief that a gun is a useful tool to protect one is counterintuitive because guns get into the hands of people who use them for horrible reasons. In addition, there are reasons why cops are trained to use a firearm in stressful situations. It is not to keep their mind at ease or anything of that sort, but to be able to fire accurately at the target in the correct location. It is immensely difficult to fire when under pressure.”

Justin seems to live in that rainbow & unicorn world, along with many other delusional liberals, who have apparently never been faced with a threat to his life or that of a family member.

It’s a known fact that armed citizens have saved thousands of lives, but according to Justin’s logic, we should just let the bad guys kill us so they retain their right to a trial.

He also indicates that guns in the hands of ordinary people are weapons for a revolution, yet millions of Americans across this country own millions of guns and nobody has started a war.

Poor Justin really shouldn’t attempt to discuss mental capacity when he’s clearly not qualified to go there.

  1. Gotta say, I have to wonder what that blogger’s native language is. What he wrote was almost a word soup. It made no sense linguistically, and even less on an “intellectual” basis. In fact, I thought it was pretty funny.

Now, credit where credit’s due. He got one thing right: “A gun for civilians is a weapon for a revolution…”. Correct! Ding! Ding! Ding! It’s there for that purpose if needed. However, in the meantime it’s certainly not limited from other purposes, any more than a hammer can ONLY be used to drive nails.

I kinda liked this one: “Therefore, using a firearm to defend oneself is not legal because if the attacker is killed, he or she is devoid of his or her rights.” True. Dead guys don’t have many “rights”. But the loon only mentions guns. What happens if I kill that intruder with one of my samurai swords? Is that okay? He’s just as dead. How about if I post a copy of Miranda at my front door? Is a bit of self-defense okay then?

Ya gotta love these idiots. So much good material!

    • True that, Brian, they do give us lots of material, and we hit a jackpot with this guy. This Einstein is too ignorant to know that if you have a gun pointed at you, the perp’s rights are the least of your concerns!

  3. Forget that our forefathers wanted us to retain arms just incase the federal government became totalitarian. Rebellion was verbalized by them as a way to stop a run away government!

Justin wants all of us be in danger of the loss of our lives just so the criminal can have his right to a fair trial. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

And police are trained to shoot accurately in stressful situations? Lott in his book: More Guns Less Crime gives statistics that prove the average gun owner shoots more accurately and harms less others when shooting in self defense than the police!

    Good post, Kathy!

    • Thanks, tannngl. I’d heard that stat about cops’ accuracy too, but I think much of it would depend on the civilians’ amount of training and practice.

If Justin is ever put in a life or death situation, I imagine he’ll be writing a completely different story, but for now he’s just another liberal who thinks we should all be defenseless and for the stupidest of reasons. Kinda reminds me of Dianne Feinstein, lol.

  4. The other thing I love is people being executed. That the drug they are given may harm them and so it cruel and unjust punishment. Duh the guys going to be dead in a minute and your worried about cruel and unjust punishment let alone whatever he did to warrant his execution
I could care less that a drug that is given to someone being executed hurts him
Fry the guy and get on with it

    • Recently there was a piece about that where one of the states asked to speed up the process because their drugs were about to expire, and I thought much the same thing as you, bescher. Why are we worried about using expired drugs on a guy who’s about to get expired too? Makes no sense.
