No Proposed Legislation in Dems’ 2019 To-Do List

By Jame Barrett, 11-12-18, at The Daily Wire:

The Democrats failed big time in their bid to take the Senate but were able to successfully wrestle the House from Republicans’ hands after losing it in dramatic fashion back in 2010. So, what will the Democrats — whether led by old guard Nancy Pelosi or someone with a little less baggage — do with that much-coveted power once they take over in 2019?

Axios has helpfully provided a complete “Democratic hit list” of potential Trump investigation targets — and its remarkably, though unsurprisingly, long. The ever-growing list now includes 85 potential targets Democrats have signaled at some point over the last two years that they plan to direct their resources to investigate should they have the chance. Well, now they have the chance, so undoubtedly they are beginning the process of determining which of the following to pursue first.

The list includes those cited in a document obtained by Axios back in August that reportedly originated in a senior Republican’s office and outlined a number of issues for which Republicans have been “scrambling” in preparation for Democrat-led investigations. Here’s the list of 18 targets Axios’ Jonathan Swan initially provided:

  1. President Trump’s tax returns
  2. Trump family businesses — and whether they comply with the Constitution’s emoluments clause, including the Chinese trademark grant to the Trump Organization
  3. Trump’s dealings with Russia, including the president’s preparation for his meeting with Vladimir Putin
  4. The payment to Stephanie Clifford — a.k.a. Stormy Daniels
  5. James Comey’s firing
  6. Trump’s firing of U.S. attorneys
  7. Trump’s proposed transgender ban for the military
  8. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin’s business dealings

  14. The travel ban
  15. Family separation policy
  16. Hurricane response in Puerto Rico
  17. Election security and hacking attempts
  18. White House security clearances

The spreadsheet “catalogs more than 100 formal requests from House Democrats this Congress, spanning nearly every committee,” Swan reported at the time. “The spreadsheet includes requests for administration officials to be grilled by committee staff, requests for hearings to obtain sworn testimony, efforts to seize communications about controversial policies and personnel decisions, and subpoena threats.”

Below are some of the biggest of the potential targets listed by Axios’ Zachary Basu, including several blocked subpoena requests (reformatted and re-ordered, see the full list here, links provided by Basu):

  1. The findings so far of the Mueller investigation, which some House Democrats believe had been obstructed by prior House Intel leaders.
  2. Trump’s involvement in hush payments to women alleging affairs.
  3. The firing of Jeff Sessions and the appointment of Matt Whitaker as acting Attorney General.
  4. The White House’s alleged stifling of the FBI investigation into sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh.

If they follow through with all this, then their fishing expedition will make Mueller’s investigation look minuscule in comparison and the waste of money will be enormous. Not only that, but this also plays to their base and keeps the hatred and division ginned up.

The flip side is that their investigations reveal more corruption within themselves, than it reveals about Trump, his admin or his family.

It’s no wonder there’s not any proposed legislation in their agenda – they won’t have time for it! Meanwhile, Trump and McConnell can continue confirming conservative judges and that’s something that will have a lasting effect.

  1. If it wasn’t for the media support of these idiots, Americans will get tired of the ‘investigations’ by the Dems. But, with the media spurring everyone on, who knows?

I too, am happy with the judges being added by the president and the Senate in a continuing manner! This will keep us more conservative for generations!

  2. In other words, Democrats intend to use their re-acquired power to turn our own gov’t into a weapon against us. And of course all investigations into the nefarious Deep State will come to a screeching halt.

The Trump Administration should take a card from the Democrats’ playbook and refuse to comply. Furthermore we need an Attorney General who will go after the Deep Staters like an angry pit bull and start putting the traitors in jail, so they regret messing with the American people.

    It’s war time. Brace yourselves!

    • Exactly what I thought as I listened to all their stupid plans.
Just don’t give anything to them.

    • According to the Dems’ accusations, Trump is already withholding documents, so it looks like they’re off to a good start already. Some of those items are things that Trump has nothing to do with, like stifling the FBI’s investigations into Brett Kavanaugh.

Can you imagine the work they put into just creating such long lists? There’s not one thing they’re not nit-picking to death. Both lists are completely ridiculous and if they think they can win a war against Trump, they need to think again.

  3. Heh heh heh…

Well, as you know, since you commented there, my own piece of today covers some of this same ground.

It’ll be an entertaining next couple of years! For sure!
