A Judge with Balls Points out the 800 lb Gorilla

Sometimes forgotten when considering candidates for a party’s nomination for president is the quality of the judges he/she is likely to appoint.

This event should remind us that a president’s ability to appoint federal judges is critical to upholding the Constitution.

Senior federal district court judge T.S. (Thomas Selby) Ellis III excoriated Russian Collusion Special Counsel Mueller’s prosecutors by publically stating the “You don’t really care about Mr. Manafort’s bank fraud, you really care about getting information Mr. Manafort can give you that would reflect on Mr. Trump and lead to his prosecution or impeachment.

Judge Ellis gets it and had the honesty and integrity to state it publically in court. He illustrates the point of this essay, in that he was appointed by an honest, conservative president, President Ronald Reagan. President Reagan obviously understood the importance of appointing judges who would adjudicate according to the Constitution and not be swayed by political influences.

Judge Ellis pointed out the 800 lb. gorilla that the talking heads and the “mainstream” media try to hide. Everyone with even a few synapses still firing recognizes that the deep state actors, e.g., Rosenstein, McCabe, Comey, et al, cobbled together a dossier laden with false information (and whose funding source was withheld) to secure a FISA warrant to spy on Donald Trump and his presidential campaign.

They never had any real evidence; they knew that a Special Counsel armed with 17 seasoned and motivated anti-Trump attorneys and scores of FBI investigators available, they would find something unlawful; no one was invulnerable to that level of lawfare.

The deep state cabal was betting everything on finding (or manufacturing) enough evidence to link Trump with those rascally Russians and claim that they colluded to influence the 2016 presidential election.

Finding (or manufacturing) enough evidence to get an indictment would be easy; they’d done it many times before. With Donald Trump’s reputation and outlandish lifestyle, they felt comfortable in trashing laws and conventions to get to their goal: the destruction of Donald Trump, both the president and the man. With Trump out of the way, the deep state could return to its “rightful” place in control of the country.

But they were failing – and now they’re flailing.

They haven’t been able to prove collusion between Trump and the Russians so they’ve fallen back to their “plan B,” to pressure some Trump friend or associate to turn on him and testify to some unlawful act that could result in a forced resignation or provide ammunition for an impeachment.

That’s what Judge Ellis recognized and admonished Mueller and his team for doing. He had the guts to point out that gigantic, furry 800 lb ape that casts a shadow over everything else related to this Special Counsel investigation.

Let’s be reasonable. Does anyone think that Trump colluding with Russians to “steal” the election from its rightful victor, Hillary Clinton, is something that an “ignorant buffoon” like Trump could have pulled off without leaving a trace?

First, Hillary loses to the “ignorant buffoon” and now, that same “ignorant buffoon” is achieving success and winning over the public. Everyone who has been paying attention to what’s transpired over the past seventeen months or so knows what’s going on – it’s an effort to overturn the 2016 election – and obviously, so does Judge Ellis. The exposure of Mueller’s tactics is just one win. Let’s pray that there are many more to come.

Kudos to Judge T.S. Ellis III who had the balls to say it out loud and in court.

  1. This post is a real celebration!!!! When I read that on Friday I could hardly believe my eyes! And then on further news reports, FOX of course, I couldn’t believe my ears! This is the best news on this front that I’ve seen for a year and a half!
Until, of course, I heard this morning that another judge, one appointed by Trump, smacked the Mueller team down again!!!! Those federal judge appointments are boss!!!!

And then there’s this in your post: “But they were failing – and now they’re flailing.”
    Beautiful words!

  2. Ellis also accused them of lying.

“He summed up the argument of the Special Counsel’s Office as, ‘We said this was what [the] investigation was about, but we are not bound by it and we were lying.'”

Now, that’s what I call a major smack-down. We need more judges like that, which is EXACTLY what Trump is giving us.

The more time passes, the happier I am that I voted for the guy.

  3. In addition to the verbal smack-down, the judge also gave Mueller two weeks to provide an unredacted version of an Aug 2017 memo written by Rod Rosenstein laying out the parameters of the investigation into Manafort. There’s no real connection, just like in Cohen’s invasion, so I’m wondering when does this carnival act come to a close.

It sounds like Reagan made a good choice with this guy.

  4. Great post, Garnet.

Let’s hope the judge is as bold in his rulings as he is in his rhetoric.
