Another Good Guy with a Gun Saves Infant Twins

From Blue Lives Matter, 6-5-17:

Cash Freeman (pictured) shot Leland Foster while Foster was trying to drown two babies.

Ada, Oklahoma – Cash Freeman didn’t wait for police when he heard that a man, Leland Foster, was trying to drown infant twins. Freeman grabbed his revolver and leaped into action.

The incident occurred at around 12:30 PM on Friday. Leland Foster, 27, showed up at a home where his estranged wife, Michelle Forrells, was staying with their two 3-month-old babies.

Foster held Forrells at knifepoint, according to KFOR.

An unidentified 12-year-old girl who lived at the residence, ran to her neighbor, Cash Freeman, for help. With no time to wait for the police, Freeman grabbed his revolver and entered the home.

Inside the residence, Freeman saw Foster, armed with a knife, trying to down the babies. Freeman then shot Foster twice in the back.

The babies were airlifted to Oklahoma City hospital and have since been released in good condition.

Police took Cash Freeman in for questioning and then released him. The case is being forwarded to the District Attorney to decide if they want to file charges against Freeman.

Speaking with KFOR, Freeman said that he did what he had to do to save the babies, and was concerned about possible criminal charges.

Neighbor Summer Pierce told KFOR that she doesn’t think he should be charged, “I think he did the right thing because who knows what would happen to the babies if he hadn’t intervened. They might not have made it.”

Leland Foster’s criminal history shows prior convictions for strangulation and arson in the first degree from 2011.

Freeman is a married father, according to his wife’s Facebook page.

Do you think that there’s any way that a jury could convict Cash Freeman?

There is absolutely no justification for killing babies, none, period. Nobody with a heart could witness such a horrible thing happening and not react much like Freeman, even if they had to use their bare hands to stop that monster.

People may think that shooting Foster in the back was a bit over the top, but imagining the scene, and perhaps the size of the guy, how else could it have turned out?

They would have to assemble a jury of heartless people who have never parented a child in order to convict this young man, so my guess is, unless the DA is a complete idiot, Freeman will be just fine.

Your thoughts?

  1. I don’t claim to be an expert, but I did look at Oklahoma laws recently (my granddaughter has chosen to attend O.U.) and they are very similar to ours in Texas. While I couldn’t buy her a handgun, I did get her a couple of pepper sprayers.

I really doubt that Mr. Freeman has anything to worry about.

  2. Oklahoma. He won’t be convicted. He saved 2 lives.

  3. It’s a sad testament to our times that Mr. Freeman should have to worry about being in trouble with the law given the circumstances described in the story. The average person has never encountered a life-threatening situation like this. They’re scared, stressed and most likely dealing with a flood of adrenaline. It is completely unreasonable to hold them to the same standard that one might hold a trained police officer. I guess we need to add yet another law that says:

“When in the process of attempting to kill another person whatever happens to you is (A) lawful; and (B) your own fault.”

    • It is sad CW, but it has become the case in many states, mostly the liberal ones with overly strict gun laws.

Your law would send the libs into sputtering fits – I like it.

  4. Give that man a lifesaving award and an immediate no bill!
