The True Legacy Obama is Leaving Behind

Obama limping away

What will be the legacy of Barack Obama’s presidency? Obama is leaving behind a mess. A train wreck. An utter disaster. But fifty years from now what will his presidency be remembered for?

The numbers and ways this president has failed are numerous; feckless foreign policy leading to a complete and total meltdown in the Middle East. More debt added than the previous 43 presidents combined. Civil unrest resulting in 10 riots, more than one per year, during his tenure. Citizens hunting (and killing) police in the streets. Lies told in order to pass a piece of legislation bearing his name that collapsed and cost the American taxpayer two trillion dollars. On and on it goes.

But the true legacy Barack Hussein Obama will be remembered for is his decimation of the Democrat Party. Obama has destroyed Democrats from coast to coast in a manner that’s astonishing.

Obama’s first midterm election (2010) was disastrous for Democrats. With the birth of the Tea Party movement, Republicans gained 63 seats in the House, the largest midterm seat change since 1938, and six senate seats. That year, Republicans gained a record pickup of 680 seats in state legislative races giving Rs control of 26 state legislatures and dropping Ds to just 15 of 50. Republicans also took 11 governorships from the Democrats for a total of 29. Of 54 incumbents who lost re-election bids that year, 52 were Democrats.

Next, 2014. Up for grabs, all 435 House seats, 36 Senate seats, 38 governorships, 46 state legislatures. Though it didn’t seem possible, Democrat defeats in 2010 were dwarfed. Republicans gained control of the U.S. Senate for the first time since 2006, increased an already commanding majority in the House and gained two more governorships.

Things got much worse for Democrats. 2014 saw a sweeping in of the largest Republican majority in nearly a century, 54 seats in the Senate, 247 in the House, 31 governorships, and 68 state legislative chambers. Republicans gained their largest majority in Congress and largest majority of state legislatures since 1928. State legislative elections were worse. After the 2014 election the number of Republican-controlled state senates and assemblies rose to 68, the highest number in Republican hands since 1928. The smallest number in Democrat control since 1860.

And then came Tuesday night, November 8, 2016 – when Obama finally finished off his party. Not only did Republicans win the presidency and the vice presidency, not only did Republicans retain control of the Senate and of the House, Republicans actually flipped three more governor’s seats. Rs now have the most number of Republican governors since 1922!

Thanks to his extreme narcissism, dislike for members of his party, the radicalness of his hope and change agenda and somewhat lax work ethic – in just eight years Obama has done to the Democrat Party what Republicans couldn’t in a century. He has obliterated it. But not just in elections and not just the prime time players like Hillary Clinton, he’s wiped out the bench too.

Quick, had it not been Trump name seven or eight others who could have been the Republican nominee. No problem, right? Now, name seven or eight Democrats who could have been their nominee. Heck, name two or three. Most can name but one — Bernie Sanders. A 75-year-old second fiddle who was robbed by his own party’s crooked establishment.

The depth of current and future leaders who are under 55 years of age on the Republican side is impressive – Rand Paul is 53; Marco Rubio, 45; Bobby Jindal, 53; Chris Christie, 54; Nikki Haley, 44; Ted Cruz, 45; Scott Walker, 49. Who is there on the Democrat side? Chuck Schumer? John Conyers?

What will be the true legacy of Barack Obama? It very well could be a statue placed in his honor right in the lobby of the RNC building. Because what this man has done is lay devastation upon the Republican’s opposition.

~~~~~~~~~
For years we’ve given O tongue-in-cheek credit for being the best gun salesman the US has ever seen, but to add the decimation of the Democrat party to his resume’ is really the cherry on top. Except for a couple of things.
One being this election – O couldn’t have pulled this off without the help of Hillary and the media. Her life of crimes and the unlawful actions she and her people committed were minimized and ignored by the media in their blind devotion to her. That and her stale goals were big factors for many voters who switched sides.
Another being the lack of accomplishments by the Republicans to have held the majority for so long. Since we’ve watched O bulldoze over them time after time, for all their effectiveness they may as well have stayed home for the past eight years.
Then there’s the residual effects of the mountainous debt we’ll never escape, the illegal immigrants and refugees that are overwhelming our cities, and the huge massacres carried out by ISIS, who continue their quest for control, which includes demolishing the US.
So yeah, I give huge kudos to the author for his excellent compilation of statistics, and will even give O credit for his unintended consequences, but unless Trump can bring the House and Senate out of their coma, it will be business as usual.
  1. This is EXCELLENT!
    And your comments are so right on, Kathy. (as usual).
    I saw the R elites parading on this morning’s news all patting themselves on the back for the many election wins last Tuesday. They said it was due to all their hard work and ‘planning’ the last 4 years that they’ve finally won. 🙄 I was so disgusted with this report and what these idiots had to say I had to turn off the news.
    They don’t realize it was the CITIZEN VOTERS THAT WON THIS BIG TURN AROUND? AGAIN? *Tasting bile again.*
    Just what have these Republicans done???? NOTHING!!! Usual fundraising for campaigns. What was their plan? What did this party do? NOTHING! And Priebus now chief of staff? What did he do? NOTHING!
    Prayers are now for our country with this Trump guy at the helm. Only God can cause him to do what we need. And only God can give these Republican idiot emperors with no clothes, the courage to do what our patriot fathers would want them to do to save this country and its Law: The Constitution.
    *rant off*
    • “Four years of planning”?? Did they really say that?
      The only planning they did was to push Jebbie off on us whether we wanted him or not, yet here they are now taking credit for the Trump win. Those other R races were victorious because the candidates and their supporters did the hard work – it certainly didn’t come from these guys, as they were too busy fighting with each other. I’d say their audacity is unparalleled.
      Thanks, tannngl, and you’re right – we can’t stop praying now.
  2. I just have to say that the picture of Mitch McConnell turns my stomach. That worthless, flaccid, piece of excrement is one of the main reasons that our majority in the Senate hasn’t borne any fruit. Of course, he’s not the only culprit, but he’s the head facilitator of Republican senate do-nothingness. You’re right, Trump had better do something about him if he wants any legislation to get enacted.
    • Yes, he turns my stomach too and if something doesn’t give him a shot in the butt with Trump in the White House and a R majority in both houses, then they need to just pull the plug on him.
      That guys like him and John McCain are still in there keeps me shaking my head & wondering about the mindless voters out there.
  3. >>“…unless Trump can bring the House and Senate out of their coma, it will be business as usual.”
    So true, Kathy.
    Sadly, in order for a Republican majority to work any real magic we need to control about 75% of the seats because there are too many Republicans who aren’t conservatives and may as well be Democrats. The first time Trump tries anything bold McCain and his gang can surely be counted on to stand in the way. And then of course Trump himself is a giant question mark. Will he be the man who promised change (and what kind of change?) or will he be the man who backs down and reverts to his liberal-ish nature after winning any battle (notice that he’s ALREADY backing down on his vow to prosecute Hillary now that he beat her)? Only time will tell.
    • Welcome home, CW.
      Your point about the 75% is well taken, but this is likely as good as it will ever get for the Rs. If this election didn’t teach them a thing or two about what people really want from our government, then that coma could be fatal and Trump is going to be one very frustrated president.
      No doubt Hillary was still in tears when she made that call to Trump (assuming she’s the one who made the call) and now he’s feeling sorry for her. Hopefully, he’ll get over that by January.
      In last night’s episode of 60 Minutes, in typical lib media fashion Leslie Stahl tried to rake him over the coals, but he stood firm when she asked about ISIS. He refused to say what his plans were in that regard (could be he doesn’t know yet) and I appreciated that. He has a good point about not announcing your battle plans as we saw O do time after time.
    • It’s one year later, and the UNIParty Rs are still in their coma, but I think they are beginning to come out of it as President TRUMP continues to drain the swamp.
      Flake the Elect Me and I will Serve Only Two-Terms Flake has his backside to the party, as usual, along with Creepy Corrupt Corker. McCane is out soon with a little nudge from God, along with the usual stampede of swamp critters who always stand in the way of TRUE progress to #MAGA. They will all be joining ILLary soon on her book tour, each with their new books in the “What Happened” series, soon to be made into a TV docudrama series.
      Gotta’ Pay The Bills.
      ~Bill Clinton aka Slick Willie
      Now that they know they can’t take him down with Russia-Russia-Russia, and their FAKE foreign dossier, bought and paid for illegally by ILLary, the Dims, NeverTrumpers, and the FBI via the taxpayer, they are going to try to take him out with Fake whiny women, pretending their feelings were hurt when he walked into a pageant dressing room. Things we see on the tubes every day in how many reality shows, movies, etc.? PLEASE. Anyone ever watched Victoria’s Secret Angels?
      BTW, these were pageants that were dead and buried without this man, like NYC was until he built TRUMP Tower, and began cleaning up the city, including Grand Central Station. The ice skating rink would come later, much too late, later. After the city wasted mucho money for YEARS, while he continued to offer to fix it. We all know how that story ended.
      He also offered to manage the entire UN remodeling project for free, to save the taxpayers mega, mega, mega bucks that they were planning to throw away, had already thrown away, intended to continue throwing away…
      He testified masterfully to Congress on the subject, and they all still shamelessly continued with their wasteful plans, and saddled the taxpayer with the bills and the LOANS.
      Congress changed the rules so that the U.S. taxpayers had to shoulder the entire loan and the other countries are supposed to pay us back their share. A debtor nation, the U.S., took out a loan with our creditors to loan other nations the money to remodel the UN buildings (AND MORE).
      The U.S. taxpayer is paying interest to our debtors for the loan we took out to give these countries a loan. We are also paying our share of the interest on the latter loan, which is an obscene majority, as usual, just as it was in all other agreements that President TRUMP has now managed to turn around. He tried to stop it before the fact, but Congress didn’t listen, the UN didn’t listen.
      I am THANKFUL today, and every day for President Donald J. TRUMP.
      Happy Thanksgiving All!
  4. Kathy, I agree with your closing assessment 100%, and think you’ve utterly nailed it.
    Trump AND the feckless GOP now have the opportunity of a lifetime to prove their chops. This is the first time the GOP has held both chambers of Congress AND the Oval Office since (I believe) 1928. So now they have the keys to the kingdom. Let’s see what they do with them.
    • Thanks, Brian, and I heard much the same statement on how long it’s been since we had a predominantly R government – something like 60 years (?), so this is the opportunity of a lifetime. It will be interesting to see if Ryan, McConnell, et al finally grow a backbone or if they continue to aid and abet the Dems.
      Trump is already back-peddling his talk on pursuing Hillary, so we’ll see if anything changes once he gets in office. Right now, talk is just talk.
