President Obama officially gave his endorsement to presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in a video released Thursday afternoon.
“I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office,” the president said of his former secretary of state. “She’s got the courage, the compassion and the heart to get the job done. I’m with her.”
Shortly after, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump, tweeted out a response: “Obama just endorsed Crooked Hillary. He wants four more years of Obama — but nobody else does!”
Clinton’s counterpunch was swift. She fired back at Trump with a three-word tweet of her own: “Delete your account.”
That’s all she said, but before long her message had been retweeted nearly 200,000 times. According to her social media director, Alex Wall, it has been the most retweeted post of her campaign.
Supporters of Trump weren’t going to let it end there. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus garnered nearly 5,000 retweets for his rebuttal: “If anyone knows how to use a delete key, it’s you.”
Many on Twitter appreciated the reference to Clinton’s missing emails from her private server, which is the subject of an FBI investigation.
As did I. For the most part, Reince Priebus is just another useless piece of the establishment which is the bulk of the problem in Washington, but for once in his life, he got something right.
