Last night Marco Rubio was on Levin TV where he encouraged his delegates to vote for Cruz after the first ballot at the convention:
When Levin asked Rubio who he would be supporting for the corner office, Rubio said that his delegates are bound on the first ballot. He added that on subsequent ballots, “I hope that they’ll nominate a conservative.” Rubio added, “the only one [presidential candidate] that fits that criteria is Ted Cruz.”
While that’s not exactly a full blown endorsement, it’s certainly encouraging to see Rubio starting to come out and more openly back Cruz for president. For a bit there it seemed as if he were just going to stay mum on the whole thing.
There’s been much more talk of a contested convention lately because it’s looking more and more possible with each passing day. This has certainly been an unprecedented election cycle, one that will no doubt be studied for years to come.
Yes! Good move, Rubio. Cruz is the Constitutional conservative this country needs. This is possibly the smartest thing Rubio ever did.
