CAIR Attacks Ted Cruz for Security Team Choices

From Breitbart:

The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) — the organization labeled a terrorist organization in the United Arab Emirates — is calling on 2016 Republican presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz to remove individuals from his national security advisory team which CAIR has labeled “infamous Islamophobes.”

Cruz announced his robust 23-member national security coalition on Thursday.

On Thursday, CAIR released the following declaration:

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to drop designated hate group leader Frank Gaffney Jr., retired Lieutenant General William G. “Jerry” Boykin and other Islamophobes as foreign policy advisers.

CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad stated, “Who a candidate picks for his or her advisers says volumes about that candidate’s worldview. By choosing infamous Islamophobes as foreign policy advisers, Senator Cruz indicates that he subscribes to their conspiratorial worldview and to the anti-Muslim bigotry that would inevitably shape their policy recommendations. We ask Senator Cruz to drop any adviser who has a past history of promoting conspiracy theories or religious bigotry.”

Federal prosecutors named CAIR an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation’s Hamas-funding operation.

The organization cited the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) as designating Gaffney’s Center for Security Policy (CSP) as a “hate group.” In a February article published by Breitbart News, Gaffney denounced the “hate-mongering of the Southern Poverty Law Center.”

CAIR also called out Cruz Security Team members Clare Lopez and Fred Fleitz of Gaffney’s Center for Security Policy. Cruz coalition member Andrew McCarthy was also called out by name.

Gaffney is founder and president of the Center for Security Policy. In December, Gaffney described the organization to CNN’s Don Lemon,:“It’s a group that I started with a number of my colleagues back in 1988, essentially to promote what President Reagan, my old boss, used to call a strategy of peace through strength.”

In February, CAIR executive director Nihad Awad accused Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump of crossing “the line from spreading hatred to inciting violence.”

Four members of Cruz’s national security coalition were identified as having served in President Ronald Reagan’s administration, five served or participated in some facet of the George W. or George H. W. Bush administrations, and one member that served as a former aide to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

If CAIR is on the attack, then that confirms Ted Cruz has chosen the right people for his security team.  O’s muslim buddies know they’ll be scrutinized more with Cruz as president and they aren’t happy. Tough, these guys need booting out of the country anyway.

  1. I have acquaintances who are “friendly” Muslims. But having read Andrew McCarthy’s speech in the new “Imprimis” about the first WTC attack prosecution, you have to question how “friendly” they actually are. Whenever the radicals act out, and claim Islam as the basis for their actions, the “friendlies” say, “Oh, I’d never do that!” But when asked about the Islamic justification, they demur, and refer us to Islamic scholars for clarification. But, invariably, if grudgingly, those same scholars agree with the terrorists that the holy writ from Mohammed does in fact instruct believers to act in bloody violence towards any unbeliever of Allah, the Moon God of Persia.

Which puts me back in the quandary of whether those “friendlies” are actually friendly at all? My heart wants to say they are. But my head, and all available evidence indicates that they are apologists at best, and a fifth column seeking to overthrow, subdue, and/or kill us in reality.

Sorry if that’s too sanguine, but, Dammit! That’s the reality I see!

    • Curtis, I’ve had a theory for a long time that the friendly ones will stay that way until they’re instructed to act otherwise. Those grand poo-bahs carry a lot of weight within Islam and when the choices are follow instructions or die, what are they going to do?

Since theirs is much more than just religion, but more a 1400-year-old mindset dictated by a pedophile pervert, I think you’re right to be wary.

      • I’d like to think that most Muslims in this country are “benign” and will not join in with any sort of jihad, BUT I am very disappointed and concerned that there is a distinct absence of condemnation of the radical Islamic terrorists by these “benign” Muslims. I guess I’m like both of you in that I don’t trust Muslims in general since they’ve done little to earn my trust – words be damned, they’re worth nothing. I’d like to see some action within their own mosques, turning in anyone who may be recruiting for jihad or plotting any sort of mayhem.

I think that we need to keep a wary eye on Muslims and in particular, their mosques that have exhibited any leaning towards jihad.

  2. Kathy, I agree with your statement that CAIR’s condemnation of Ted’s selections is confirmation that he’s chosen the right people. CAIR is a joke, they aren’t interested in improving relations between Islam and non-Islamic Americans, they’re an pro-Islamic organization devoted to muting any anti-Islamic activity, even as it applies to radical Islamic terrorists. They immediately supported clock-boy, remember that? We need to welcome peaceful Muslims as long as they’re willing to assimilate, but we don’t need Muslims who want to introduce Shariah law and separate enclaves. They either assimilate or go home.

    • Oh yes, I remember clock boy and how fast CAIR was in jumping into the issue. Except for the occasional run-in with Texas mayors, etc. they’ve had a free rein as long as O’s in office, but that’s about to change. The one thing that won’t change though, is us being called Islamophobes every time we make a move to protect our country.

  3. Those critical of Islamic affairs are essential, as are those who have a more forgiving view. To only hear ONE side is where the failure of vision arises (see Obama, Barack). Having watched Cruz, if any advisers are too acerbic, pro or con, they will become former advisers pretty quickly. He won’t want “yes men”, nor will he want unabridged bellicosity. He’ll want unvarnished truth, and sound advice given that truth.

    • Agreed, Curtis. Unlike O, Cruz doesn’t want to surround himself with yes-men, instead he wants the truth so he can address the facts. What a breath of fresh air that would be!

We’ve heard O tell us for years that we’re not at war with Islam, but it’s undeniable to reasonable people that Islam is sure as heck at war with us, and they don’t have a problem reminding us of that. If the people at CAIR were truly concerned about the relations in this country, they’d want the whole truth too.
